12 months

What happened to this sweet baby?

That sweet baby is 1 year old! And with his first birthday came lots of BIG changes at our house that we are still adjusting to thus the reason this post is close to a month late. And there is still the need to do the big birthday party post, so I'm going to work on that sometime soon too!

Weight and Height: I was the meanest mama in the world and took you to the doctor on your birthday. So these are super official birthday stats. You weigh 22 lbs 1 oz. You lost weight! The doctor says it's because you are exercising now :) That weight put you in the 60% percentile. You were 30 3/4 inches- the 85% percentile; and your head was 19 1/4 inches- off the charts- you take after your daddy here.

Clothing: Mostly 12 or 18 mo clothes. It's hard for me to get used the idea that you aren't going to have all new clothes every 3 months. I keep trying to buy the next bigger size, but I'm getting used to the idea that's not completely necessary anymore. Although I imagine you will go through a growth spurt here soon.

Diapers: Size 3; although the size 4 says they will fit at 22 lbs, so maybe the next box we'll up size.

Feeding: Once again, there is not much new to say. You nurse about 4 times a day, and you eat 3 good meals a day. At 1 year old your favorite foods are Mama's milk, avocado, hummus, mandarin oranges, and ice cream! We usually have a bowl of ice cream after dinner, and you make all kind of nosies till we give you a little bite. It's pretty funny. You also know an avocado by site, and start reaching for it.

Hair and eyes: Big baby blues; and crazy head of hair that looks like a mullet!

Sleep: And we are back to some bad sleeping. I think it is all the changes that have been going on in the last month. Who can blame you for having a tough time. You got a room in a new house, so you are still adjusting. Even your naps have been a bit of a mess. I had to tell the doctor you were not sleeping well, but also explained what all we had been doing lately too. Hoping with the consistency we are about to have things will get better.

Fun Stuff: Let's start with the not so fun. We went back to North Carolina for your first funeral. Your great Uncle Jim went to be with Jesus after a long battle with Lyme disease. At the funeral, you met lots of family members that had not met you yet. I was especially glad you got to meet Jim Tom. I had not seen him in many years, and so it was special he got to see you while you are still a little guy. He lives in Singapore, and I'm not sure when he and Allison will be moving back to the States. You could be 10 by then! Who knows.

Now moving on to better things!

You are officially a full time walker. Just about a week before your birthday you started taking more than just a few steps before dropping to your knees to crawl. By the time you turned 1 you were pretty sure on your feet!

Your molars are coming in. They are not all the way in, but they are starting to break the surface. My kid with the crazy amount of teeth!

Words you say- Mama, Baba (for daddy- your doctor says it's Chinese for father, so maybe you are a genius!), Scout, and bye-bye (which sounds a lot like Baba)

We are officially moved into our new house you love the yard and the deck and the neighborhood pool. We take family walks at night around the neighborhood, and you just sit back and relax in your stroller as we walk!

What a year it has been for you little man- 2 cities, 3 residences, meeting lots of family members and people, learning how to roll and crawl and walk, starting to talk, getting a ton of teeth in, and being the light of Mommy and Daddy's life! We pray for you every night and love you so big! We hope great and wonderful things for you- but if all you ever do is love God, work hard, and always try your best that is enough. We will always be so proud of you, and love you sweet boy!
